A model gingerbread house

I have just put 2 big bags of costumes and props into our storage and got very excited about starting rehearsals next week.

As well as beautiful puppets we now have the model of our gingerbread house. It will be made out of gingerbread and sweets and have a glowing light inside. Had a great chat with Steffi about ways of making smoke come out of the chimney. Any ideas on how to make that happen (without setting it on fire) very welcome.

Getting close now...

we are getting closer and closer to rehearsals, I can't believe that it has come around so fast.  I spent the afternoon with Steffi yesterday talking through the design plans and looking at the puppets and some bits of costume as well.

Nest week we are going to try out some projection ideas and find out more about how our design might look in the space...

We also had a look at the puppets for Hansel and Gretel yesterday...

Design meeting and ideas

Today we had a design meeting with Steffi who is designing the set and costumes for the show.

We also had a look at the next version of the puppets of Hansel and Gretel that we will be using for some parts of the show and I think they look really good.

Steffi had made a small set model working on our ideas about trees and branches in a forest. We also talked about some ways of using projections as part of the set.

Things are really moving on now, we also talked a lot about costumes and how e design will be used to tell the story....

More soon - the show is getting closer and closer, and tickets are selling fast!

We have been experimenting with some projected background ideas

Steffi made these great pictures that we will try out as projections onto the backdrop.

Some of them are very beautiful

Brown cardboard packages tied up with string..

Steffi the Set Designer has been amassing lots of things for the Hansel & Gretel set. The latest package to arrive at The Junction is a large box with lots of rugs in it that will help dress the stage. She is also talking to a local tree surgeon about what bits of trunk and branches we can use in the theatre
